Carers Information Service
Carers say that access to information, financial support and breaks in caring are vital in helping them manage the impact of caring on their lives.
The Carers Information Service provides free and confidential information, advice and support to Carers. We produce and distribute information for carers and organise regular events in partnership with other organisations.
Our quarterly newsletter, Carmarthenshire Carers News, aims to inform Carers and the people they care for of policy issues, services, and organisations which may be of some help to them.
In addition to the information we produce, we facilitate regular events for Carers including coffee mornings, focus groups, and annual events to mark national Carers Week in June and Carers Rights Day in November.
The service is joint funded by Carmarthenshire County Council and Hywel Dda University Health Board.
The outreach service can help carers to optimise their quality of life and well-being to enable them to continue to be effective in their caring role as long as that is right for the individual
Our team of Carers Outreach Workers are experienced in providing one-to-one support to carers and have up-to-date information about the range of support services for carers and the people they care for
The service covers the whole of Carmarthenshire and appointments can be made at your home or at an alternative venue
How can I arrange an appointment with a Carers Outreach Worker?
Investors in Carers is an award-winning scheme unique to Hywel Dda Health Board and Wales that encourages all GP practices, hospitals, schools, and other ‘settings’ across the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire to adopt and promote best practice in identifying and supporting Unpaid Carers of all ages.
In order to gain recognised accreditation ‘settings’ are asked to create an evidence folder across six key themes:
- Carer Lead
- Staff Training
- Identification of Carers
- Information for Unpaid Carers
- Support for Unpaid Carers (including staff who are Carers)
- Evaluation of the support given to Unpaid Carers
